What is a CLICKER?
A clicker (polling technology) is a radio frequency device that allows people to anonymously give responses to questions in any kind of setting – from television games shows like “who wants to be a millionaire” on ABC to a formal classroom or lecture hall. I was opportune to “play” with one during a professional development session organized by my school district last October. It is quite a good tool to use in the classroom; but will be much more effective with larger groups I think (just an opinion).

Hi Ali:
ReplyDeleteI know that I am not in your group, but I like your blog and I wanted to respond. I took a substance abuse course here at SU and in the course our professor had us use a clicker for the multiple choice quiz that she gave every week. It was my first time using that sort of technological device in class. I was amazed by the change in classroom technology. In the past, I remember filling out round circles on Scantron forms for quizzes. ~Aja
We join in the same group. (Group4)
ReplyDeleteI'm interesting to Clicker. If I uesd it in my class, it would attract my students to understand contents better.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Aja.
ReplyDeleteI am also begining to like the technology more and more; especially now that I am reading and looking at it's use in the classroom. A biology professor here at SU uses it extensively. He uses it during lectures to assess students' understanding in the course of his class and gets immediate feed back that the class also can view. This helps to do away with asking students to write their thoughts on pieces of paper and handing them to him at the end of class (ticket out); then wait till the next class to get feed back from the professor. As for quizzes and reviews, it puts away the long hours of grading papers manually so the instructor has more time to plan.
Hi Suttha; I am happy we are in the same group and that you are interested in Clikers. I agree with you that the use of it will grab students' attention, because the use of technology in any form or shape is what this generation know and want.
ReplyDeleteHi Ali,
ReplyDeleteI quite interest in Clikers cause it seems to be fun to use it in class.

I have heard about Clicker, but so far haven't experience it yet. Thank you for your informaton provided!
ReplyDeleteHi Ali,
ReplyDeleteI had an experience with Pre-Clicker technology some years ago (probably 20 years) when I attended a conference where we toured McDonald's University in Chicago. (McDU is where all McDonald's frachise owners go to learn how to run a restaurant.) They were hard-coded and clunky. I am really interested in learning about what they look like and how they work today.
Thanks you for your sharing .It's very interesting .I 'll follow your next comment!
ReplyDeleteThanks Thinnakorn and Paponpat.
ReplyDeleteHi Mickey,
I just posted information on what clickers look like. Visit the turning point technologies site for more information. I bet you will love them more than what you saw years ago.
